There is a scratch on the side of the headstock, a couple small dents on the back of the neck, and it looks like the previous owner put some glue in the fifth string peg for some reason but its NEVER given me trouble. I have it strung with nylaguts but it can run steel strings too and sounds great. I love this banjo but iвЂ™m having a new one made and i have to thin the herd some. Great condition OME tupelo iвЂ™ve had for a few years. I've got a ton of guns that haven't been in the field for quite some time. Now if I can only find an excuse (or the money) to buy a maple banjo. Both are very decent, but for different reasons. At this time the Gold Star seems to be in my hands the most. It's odd, sometimes I can't put the OME down, at other times the Gold Star is my banjo of choice. But the Gold Star plays better up the neck, well I don't know if better is really the right term. The banjo seems to play easily enough, no buzzing or other annoying habbits like that. If this was my Gold Star I prpobably would adjust it a bit, but since it's not that easy with the OME, I'll wait until further maintenance is needed.

This Banjo has a truss rod, but it's adjustable at the heal only. I know it's not good to have a dead flat fret board, some bow is good, but how much is to much. I've never worried much about the Bow in a banjo neck.
